Lightning is one of nature’s biggest killers. Pantex, along with its fellow Texas Panhandle community members including ranchers, farmers, businesses, homeowners, and schools, collaborates to present the Pantex StrikeNet app.

Pantex StrikeNet utilizes a weather station that offers data on rainfall, humidity, temperature, wind speed and direction, barometric pressure, and dew point. Moreover, the weather stations supply details such as heat index, wind chill, rainfall rates, yesterday's and today's rainfall amounts, yearly rainfall statistics, and more.

What sets Pantex StrikeNet apart is its cutting-edge lightning sensor with a detection range of up to 30 miles in addition to the comprehensive weather data provided by the weather station. This integration enables users to access real-time lightning information from each location alongside up-to-date weather observations.

To access "wind chill" and "heat index" data, simply tap on the "Temperature" option. For dew point values, touch the "Humidity" section. To check the one-minute average wind gust and highest wind gust since midnight, tap once and then twice on "Wind." Similarly, touch once on "Rain" to view the rainfall rate. Repeated taps on "Rain" will display "Yesterday's Rainfall," "48-hour rainfall," and yearly rainfall at that specific location. To monitor the changes in barometric pressure since midnight, select "Pressure."

Select the Lightning bolt icon to reveal the date & time of the last strike and total strikes recorded yesterday. Subsequently touch to switch back to viewing the last strike distance and energy levels along with the total strikes of the day. A long press on the Lightning Bolt Icon will direct you to the StrikeNet Map showcasing all network sites simultaneously. Use the left arrow button on the map to return to the main screen. On the main screen, perform a long press on a blank area to clear the display.
